assureITR: Organise Return Preparation with Prefill, Prior-Year Data and Connected Review
Understand assureITR’s prefill and prior-year imports, shared client workspace, supported Excel inputs and ITR-6 utility-test JSON workflow.
AI Summary
What is assureITR?
assureITR is the income tax return preparation and review application in the assureOffice tax suite. It brings recognised source information into a client-and-Assessment-Year workspace so the team can work on return schedules, review imported figures and prepare the supported outputs.
The central idea is to begin with information already available in filed returns, portal prefills and supported accounting sources, rather than rebuilding the whole engagement from scattered files.
Why a connected workspace helps
Return preparation often involves separate files for the previous return, current prefill, tax credits, financial statements and the audit report. Each may contain part of the answer, and differences need checking before the return is finalised.
assureITR sits alongside assureTax and assureTP in a shared tax-suite client environment. That helps the team organise related compliance work without treating each application as an entirely separate client database. assureFinancials currently uses a separate account environment; the presence of related products does not mean every figure is automatically synchronised.
Use the prior return and current prefill for different purposes
A prior-year filed ITR can provide recurring details and historical context. A recognised current-year prefill can bring in information available for the current Assessment Year, such as supported income and tax-credit records. The importer distinguishes these source types rather than treating an old return as a new prefill.
For example, previous-year business income should not simply become current-year business income. Likewise, a prefilled TDS entry should still be reconciled with the relevant records before the credit is claimed. Importing information reduces typing; reviewing it determines whether it belongs in the return.
Start from supported source files
The shared Import Centre supports recognised filed-return and prefill JSON workflows. It can use available client details to help populate records and route source information to the relevant module. Supported books/ERP working-workbook imports and schedule-specific Excel inputs provide additional routes for bringing information into the preparation process.
These Excel capabilities should not be confused with a guarantee that every ITR schedule has the same full prefilled-workbook export/re-import cycle as assureTax or assureTP. Use the source types and templates offered for the selected form and year.
Retrieve available documents through the portal connector
The suite includes an authorised Income Tax Portal document connector for supported retrieval workflows. This can reduce the need to repeatedly locate and download available records by hand. Retrieval depends on the configured environment, portal permissions and authentication; some cases require OTP handling or manual download and upload.
A practical preparation sequence
- Confirm the client, Assessment Year and appropriate return form.
- Import the recognised previous filed return and current prefill separately.
- Bring in supported accounting or schedule-level source data.
- Review imported income, deductions, losses, tax credits and payments against the records.
- Check the preview, validation messages and pending items.
- Use the applicable official utility-validation and final filing steps for that form.
This sequence lets junior staff prepare the information and senior reviewers focus on differences and tax positions, while keeping responsibility for the final return clear.
Important: preparation JSON and final filing readiness are different
The inspected build provides an ITR-6 utility-test JSON workflow. It instructs users to import the generated file into the applicable official Income Tax utility before final submission; the normal generated output is explicitly not marked direct-portal-upload ready. ITR-3 and ITR-5 also have controlled release or utility-validation conditions.
Accordingly, assureITR should be described as a preparation and review tool with form-specific output availability. Do not assume that all return forms are enabled for unrestricted direct portal filing. Follow the readiness messages for the selected form, year and deployed version.
Where the time saving comes from
The benefit is concrete: fewer repeated master entries, less manual copying from recognised source files and a more organised review of schedules and imported figures. The time saved depends on source quality and the complexity of the return; no fixed completion time or automatic filing outcome is promised.
Cloud access and controlled teamwork
Access the assureOffice tax apps online at tax.assureoffice.in. Your team can work from one shared client list. Admins can add team members and choose which clients each member can access, reducing the need to share files repeatedly.
The apps are hosted on Hostinger, an ISO/IEC 27001:2022-certified hosting provider. Client access is controlled through user accounts and permissions.
Is assureOffice the same as AssureAI?
No. assureOffice and AssureAI are separate brands. assureOffice states that it has no affiliation with AssureAI. The official assureOffice website is assureoffice.in, and its tax apps are available at tax.assureoffice.in.
