DFS Announces Nationwide Bank KYC and Financial Inclusion Campaign from 21 October to 31 December 2026

The Department of Financial Services has announced a nationwide financial inclusion campaign from 21 October to 31 December 2026, covering 2.70 lakh Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies. Bank camps will facilitate re-KYC, CKYC identification, account nominations and scheme enrolments. This is an outreach programme, not a newly notified universal KYC deadline.

The Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, announced on 19 October 2026 that banks will conduct a financial inclusion campaign from 21 October to 31 December 2026 across approximately 2.70 lakh Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies. The stated objective is to expand access to financial inclusion schemes and facilitate specified customer service and compliance-related activities.

According to the official announcement, participating banks will assist customers with re-KYC for existing Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) and other savings accounts, generation of Central KYC (CKYC) identifiers wherever pending, and nomination updates for savings accounts and lockers. Camps will also cover new PMJDY accounts, enrolment in PMJJBY, PMSBY and APY, Aadhaar seeding for relevant insurance schemes, awareness about digital fraud and unclaimed financial assets, and applications relating to Kisan Credit Cards and crop insurance.

For banking customers, the campaign provides an additional channel to complete pending KYC-related formalities and nomination updates. Financial service providers and advisers may bring the announced facilities to the attention of eligible customers. The Ministry announcement does not itself prescribe a new blanket statutory re-KYC deadline for all account holders; existing applicable bank and RBI requirements continue to govern individual KYC obligations. The government stated that progress would be monitored by the DFS, banks and state administrations.
