Financial-statement preparation resources

A source-selection table and practical checklists for importing, reviewing and exporting financial statements.

Before-import checklist

Review points
  • Correct entity type, company/client and CY/PY dates.
  • Source amount unit: absolute INR, thousands or lakhs; separate amounts from shares/percentages.
  • TB/financial-statement sheets and required comparative files.
  • Closing inventory valuation, PPE/depreciation, capital/reserves and supporting disclosure details.
  • Backup before replacing saved data.

Before-finalisation checklist

Review points
  • All ledgers mapped and classifications reviewed.
  • BS, P&L, notes and applicable cash flow reconciled to the intended sources.
  • PPE depreciation, DTA, share capital and material disclosure differences investigated.
  • Policies, narrative years, related parties, ratios and ageing checked.
  • PDF/Excel references, amounts, units, comparative headings, entity identity and signatories inspected.

Illustrative reconciliation example

If depreciation in P&L is ₹100,000 and the PPE/intangible workings show ₹110,000, investigate the ₹10,000 difference. Check the relevant year, disposals, adjustments and source working. Do not force the total by changing a balancing row.
