How to Use assureFinancials for Company Financial Statements: The Complete Corporate Workflow
A complete assureFinancials guide for company accounts: client and financial-year setup, Tally and Excel imports, grouping, adjustments, Schedule III statements, notes, signing, PDF/Excel/Word downloads and backup, with 44 FAQs.
AI Summary
From Tally, trial balance and existing financials to reviewed Schedule III financial statements, Excel downloads and printable PDFs.
Preparing company financial statements involves much more than putting a trial balance into a Balance Sheet format. The correct company and financial year must be selected, current-year and comparative figures must be brought in, ledgers must be classified, year-end adjustments must be recorded, supporting workings must be completed, and the final statements must agree with one another.
assureFinancials, available through assureOffice at https://assureoffice.in, brings these activities into a connected financial preparation workspace. You can start with a grouped or ungrouped trial balance, fetch information from Tally through a local connector, upload supported Tally files, import an existing financial statements workbook, and use eligible filed ITR-6 or ROC documents for the specific information those sources provide.
This guide covers the corporate, Non-Ind AS / Schedule III Division I workflow in assureFinancials. Choose this workflow after confirming that it fits the company's reporting framework. Selecting a company entity type or an NBFC business description does not, by itself, establish support for an Ind AS or specialised reporting format.
The objective is a complete, reviewable set of company financial statements: the appropriate statements, comparative figures, notes, policies, supporting disclosures and signing details, followed by the required exports and a recoverable client backup.
1. Understand the complete journey before you begin
The main corporate navigation in assureFinancials follows this sequence:
- Create or open the company client.
- Create or select the correct financial period and version.
- Open Import and choose the appropriate source.
- Review the imported Trial Balance and grouping.
- Complete Disclosures Working and the relevant note workings.
- Enter Signing & Other details.
- Review Financials, including comparative figures and reconciliation.
- Download the required PDF, Excel or editable Word output.
- Preserve the completed financial version and download the client backup.
You can move between these stages as the accounts develop. For example, a review of trade receivables may require a grouping correction, which may then require a fresh review of the ageing disclosure and the final Balance Sheet.
Choose one primary source for the balances in each year. Use additional sources to fill gaps or verify information. Uploading every available source into the same year without checking its effect can replace previously reviewed work.
2. Collect the information needed for the assignment
Keep the company's legal name, CIN, PAN, registered office address, incorporation date and nature of business ready. Decide the financial period being prepared and whether previous-year financial statements exist.
For the financial data, assemble the sources that are available:
- The current-year trial balance, preferably with opening balances, debit movements, credit movements and closing balances.
- The previous-year signed financial statements and, where available, the corresponding trial balance.
- The Tally company data or the supported Tally exports, if Tally is the source.
- Existing financial statements in Excel, if the accounts were prepared earlier in another workbook.
- The immediately preceding year's filed ITR-6 JSON, if it will be used to establish a previous-year baseline.
- Supported AOC-4 and MGT-7 PDFs for company information, share capital review and comparison.
- Fixed asset, inventory, borrowing, share capital, ageing, tax and related-party details.
- Auditor, director and other applicable signatory information.
Also establish the unit used by every source. A workbook presented in lakhs and a Tally export in absolute rupees can contain correct numbers while appearing very different. Confirm both the input unit and the intended output unit.
Sign in to assureOffice and open assureFinancials. Client creation and import require a verified email address. If the Clients page shows pending verification, use Click here to verify email and complete the OTP verification before creating or importing a client. Where access controls or paid plans are enabled, check access for the relevant client and financial year. Trial output may carry a watermark or use a demo Excel export.
3. Create the corporate client correctly
For a fresh company record, open Clients → + New Client → Create Manually.
- Select the correct corporate Entity Type, such as Private Limited, Public Limited, OPC or Section 8 Company.
- Enter the company name exactly as it should appear in the financial statements.
- Add the optional File No. if your office uses an internal client reference.
- Enter the CIN, PAN, incorporation date and registered office address.
- Select the appropriate Nature of Business and Listing Status.
- Answer “Do previous year financials exist for this entity?” correctly.
- Choose Create Client.
Select “No — first year financials” only when the entity is actually preparing its first financial statements. A company being entered into assureFinancials for the first time can still have several years of previous financial statements.
The client record establishes the company's identity. The financial period is a separate record, created in the next step.
assureFinancials also provides creation routes through Tally, ROC documents, existing Excel financials, a filled app template and supported tax-data imports. These routes can reduce repeated entry, but the imported identity, dates and entity type still need review.
If you already have an assureFinancials client backup, use the backup import workflow described later in this guide instead of recreating the client manually.
4. Create the financial period, comparative period and version
Open the company and choose + New financial from its Financials List.
- Enter the current reporting period's start and end dates.
- Select the Financial Type: Final or Provisional, as appropriate.
- Give the financial version a useful name, such as Main, Working, Bank or Revised.
- Confirm whether comparative figures are required and enter the comparative dates where applicable.
- Select the amount unit and available decimal presentation settings.
- Recheck the dates, type and version name before creating the assignment.
- If appropriate, use “Copy PY from a saved financial (optional)”.
- Choose Create financial; the Import workspace opens. Check the automatically generated period label and the assignment details in the Financials List.
The optional PY copy takes the selected saved financial's current-year figures, grouping and supported saved workings into the new financial's previous-year slot. The source dates must match the new comparative period. Select the version that actually contains the approved previous-year figures.
Without a selected copy or import, creating a new financial does not establish a completed set of balances. You still need to bring in the relevant data and review it.
For example, while preparing financial statements for 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026, the normal preceding comparative period would be 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025. Confirm actual dates for first, shortened, extended or provisional reporting periods rather than relying on a label alone.
Before every import or material edit, check the company, active financial period and version shown in the workspace. Two versions can belong to the same company and financial year while containing different working data.
5. Choose the input route that matches your source
The Import workspace in assureFinancials offers different routes because different files contain different kinds of information.
- Trial Balance: use an existing Excel TB, with or without financial statement grouping.
- Excel & PDF: use the app's structured Master Template workflow and its controlled editable working Excel refresh. Follow the particular upload control shown; the tab name does not mean that every PDF or spreadsheet is interchangeable.
- Tally — Connect Tally Directly: fetch supported company data through the local Tally connector.
- Tally — Upload Tally Files: use the required accounting masters and ledger-wise trial balance exports.
- Excel Financials: import an existing corporate financial statements workbook for inspection and review.
- Income Tax JSON: store and review supported tax data; an eligible filed ITR-6 can separately be applied as previous-year financials.
- ROC Docs: review supported AOC-4 and MGT-7 information for company master updates, capital disclosures and financial comparison.
- SAP Business One: import its supported structured trial balance workbook.
- Another Client: copy a selected year's data from another authorised client record into the intended destination.
A visible integration tab should be checked for availability. For example, a tab displaying “coming soon” is not a completed import route.
The following sections explain the practical sequence for each relevant starting point.
6. Import an Excel trial balance, with or without grouping
Use Import → Trial Balance for the corporate flexible TB import.
- Confirm the active company and financial version.
- Select whether you are importing CY, PY or Both.
- Upload the supported .xlsx or .xlsm workbook. Convert an older .xls file to a supported workbook format first.
- Choose Read workbook, then select the correct worksheet and columns identified during inspection.
- Map ledger names and the available opening, debit, credit and closing fields.
- Where both years are present, identify the correct CY and PY sheets or columns. Use a separate PY file where the screen provides that option.
- Choose Build mapping preview, then review the proposed financial statement grouping for each ledger.
- Correct the proposed grouping, use the available bulk grouping controls for suitable selected rows, and review unresolved items.
- Check the import preview, totals, company identity, dates and warnings.
- Review the retention and replacement choices before confirming the import.
- Choose Import reviewed TB, then open Trial Balance and Financials to verify the result.
An existing grouping in the workbook helps only if it maps to the right financial statement category. A ledger named “Advance” could represent a supplier advance, an employee advance, a customer receipt or another item. Review its business purpose before selecting the financial group.
Review any flagged summary balances separately from actual ledger rows so that totals are not counted again as individual balances. Accept a flagged summary or unresolved-row option only deliberately, and complete the import confirmation checkbox after checking the preview. If you import unresolved rows for later classification, complete that review before finalisation. An imported ledger is not automatically a correctly presented ledger.
Formula-based source cells need saved calculation results. Recalculate and save the workbook in Excel when those results are missing; the import does not execute macros or refresh external links for you.
When re-importing, review options relating to retained grouping, manual ledgers, audit adjustments and missing imported rows. Existing detailed workings may remain after the balances change, so they must be reconciled again.
7. Use the Master Template for structured TB and disclosure input
The Master Template route is useful when you want to prepare the input in a consistent Excel structure, including the supported supporting information.
For a genuine first financial year:
- Open Import → Excel & PDF.
- Choose Download Template.
- Fill the designated input areas using the workbook's instructions and grouping choices.
- Save the completed workbook.
- Choose Upload Filled.
- Review the proposed import, select the intended sections and choose Confirm & Import Selected.
- Review the resulting TB, notes and financial statements.
For a company with previous-year financial statements:
- Choose Download PY Template for the previous-year slot shown.
- Populate that year's information. In this downloaded PY file, the “Current Year” columns refer to the previous year being imported.
- Choose Upload Filled PY, review the intended sections and use Confirm & Import Selected for the baseline.
- Choose Download CY Template after the PY import is complete.
- Review the prefilled openings and comparative information.
- Enter current-year movements, new ledgers and current-year changes in the appropriate input areas.
- Choose Upload Filled CY, review the preview and intended sections, then use Confirm & Import Selected.
- Check both years in the app after import and review any carry-forward alerts.
The selected template sections overwrite their existing counterparts. Review the selection before confirming an upload into a financial that already contains data.
If previous-year adjustments change the closing balances after CY data has already been imported, review Sync CY Opening. This updates current-year TB opening balances from the previous-year adjusted closing figures. It does not replace the current-year debit and credit movements, grouping or audit adjustments.
Use this sync only after checking that the revised previous-year closing is the correct opening basis. Recheck current-year closing balances and financial statements afterwards.
8. Import corporate Tally data through the local connector
Use Import → Tally → Connect Tally Directly when the relevant Tally data is available through the supported local connector setup.
- Download and set up the assureFinancials local connector using the instructions provided on the import screen.
- Run the connector on the same computer as the intended Tally installation.
- Open Tally and load the correct company data.
- Confirm the Tally connectivity settings and port required by the connector instructions for your installation.
- Return to the assureFinancials import page and use Test Connector + Tally.
- Resolve any connection issue before fetching financial data.
- Confirm the company and current-year dates.
- Decide whether to keep Import PY TB also selected.
- If PY is included, choose the correct same-data or separate-data arrangement and provide the previous-year company and dates as required.
- Select the supporting-voucher categories relevant to the assignment and review the options to retain existing reviewed grouping, manual ledgers and audit adjustments. Confirm uncertain ledger selections through the provided review prompts when requested.
- Choose Fetch Full Tally Data.
- Review the fetched company identity, periods, ledger balances, grouping suggestions and any supporting-data warnings.
- Review stock-related information and any fields requiring confirmation.
- Choose Import to Trial Balance after the review is satisfactory.
- If prompted for existing financials, choose deliberately between Update Current Financials and Create New Financial Version.
- Open the imported TB and the financial statements to check both the data and its classification.
Where supporting vouchers are requested for particular workings, review the selected ledger categories and any ledger-name confirmation. The fetch should not be described as a guarantee that every Tally transaction and every disclosure detail has been transferred.
Keep the connector running and the required Tally company open during the fetch. If the previous year is held in separate company data, keep the required PY company open too.
After import, assureFinancials can prepare a draft from the available balances and supporting information. Review customer credits, supplier debits, borrowings, capital, stock, PPE, taxes and the disclosures that require information beyond a TB.
9. Import through Tally exported files
Use Import → Tally → Upload Tally Files when you are working with supported exports instead of fetching from the live Tally connection.
Prepare the required All Accounting Masters XML and the ledger-wise Trial Balance Excel for the intended company and year. A collapsed group-level TB is not an adequate substitute for the ledger-wise export needed by this workflow.
- Open the correct company and active financial period in assureFinancials.
- Open the Tally file upload route.
- Identify the separate Current Year and Previous Year upload fields and place each TB in the correct year's field.
- Upload the required current-year accounting masters XML.
- Provide the ledger-wise TB workbook in the supported Excel format.
- Provide the optional PY masters where the previous year is held separately or its masters or grouping differ. Otherwise, the workflow uses CY masters as the fallback.
- Check the source company, period, opening balances, movements and closing balances.
- Review the proposed grouping and retained-data options.
- Enter or review closing stock inputs, choose Process Files & Preview and inspect warnings about missing or unsuitable exports.
- Complete the review and choose Import to Trial Balance for the intended financial version.
- Reconcile the saved TB and financial statements with the original Tally exports.
In this workflow, the upload screen allows masters XML up to 200 MB and a TB Excel workbook up to 10 MB. Follow the displayed one-workbook-at-a-time instructions and the accepted file extensions.
The masters provide useful ledger and group context. The trial balance provides the balances. Both must relate to the intended company and reporting period. Review additions, disposal dates and other detailed PPE information separately where masters and TB do not provide it.
To create the company directly from Tally instead, use Clients → + New Client → Create with Tally, choose the connector or files route, fetch or process the data, and review the detected company identity, corporate entity type, dates and units. Finish with Create Client + Import TB in the connector flow, or Create Client & Import in the files flow. Open the created client and verify its financial period and imported data before continuing.
10. Import existing corporate financial statements from Excel
An existing financial statements workbook can be a useful starting point when a company's accounts were prepared in Excel earlier.
For an existing client, open Import → Excel Financials. For a new client, use the Excel financials creation route under + New Client.
- Select the existing company or start the new-client Excel financials flow.
- Upload the supported financial statements workbook. This route accepts .xlsx, .xlsm and .xlsb files.
- Confirm the target financial year and reporting dates. For an existing financial, the selected target dates remain authoritative and are not changed by the workbook.
- Choose Read workbook and inspect the detected company details, statement sheets, notes and available TB information.
- Review the automatic selections; use Advanced: change detected sheets when the workbook needs correction.
- Check the amount unit and the CY/PY interpretation.
- Review detected balances, note details and supporting workings.
- Read the reconciliation and missing-information findings and complete any required source-reconciliation confirmation. In a new-client flow, confirm the corporate entity type and review any duplicate-client warning.
- Confirm the intended client, period and replacement effect, then choose Create Client & Import or Import into Client, as appropriate.
- Open the financials and review the imported source information against the generated presentation.
An old financial statements workbook may contain a detailed TB, only statement totals, or a mixture of both. Summary financial statements cannot establish a complete ledger history that was absent from the file. Inspect the level of detail actually recovered.
If a workbook depends on formulas whose saved results are unavailable, open it in Excel, recalculate and save it before trying the import again. Investigate missing external links and inconsistent year headings in the original file.
When the app shows source-review findings or imported note allocations, review them before making further changes. A detailed source table and a summary controlling amount should not be added together as if they were separate balances.
When replacing data through Excel Financials, review the replacement of the selected years' source workings, adjustment proposals and audit adjustments. Its replacement behaviour differs from Tally's retention choices; a recovery version does not mean every existing edit is retained in the new imported state.
assureFinancials supports review and editing after import, but the imported workbook's quality and structure determine how much useful detail is available at the start.
11. Use a filed ITR-6 for previous-year financial information
For an eligible corporate case, the immediately preceding year's filed ITR-6 JSON can help establish reported previous-year financial figures.
Use Import → Income Tax JSON.
- Upload the filed ITR-6 JSON using Import File.
- Open its saved detail or review screen.
- Confirm the return form, company identity, PAN, available CIN and assessment year.
- Check that the return corresponds to the active financial's required previous-year slot.
- Where the file is eligible, choose Use as PY Financials.
- Review the proposed previous-year financial rows, Balance Sheet and profit-before-tax controls, and the information missing from the return.
- Review any existing-PY-data or replacement restriction.
- Choose Import as Previous Year Financials or, where permitted and intended, Replace Previous Year ITR Financials.
- Review the resulting PY financial figures and any available Review PY Share Capital / Shareholders action; select the reviewed capital fields and use Update selected PY fields where required.
- Complete missing details from the signed financial statements, books and supporting records.
Uploading and storing a tax JSON does not itself mean that the figures have been applied to the financial statements. The explicit PY application step matters.
The workflow checks eligibility and protects existing previous-year data. If PY has already been established from another source, or relevant previous-year adjustments prevent replacement, resolve the conflict using the appropriate review or version workflow. Repeated uploads do not remove those conditions.
A filed ITR-6 provides reported information. It may not provide a complete ledger TB, all note breakups, full ageing details or every movement needed for the accounts. Review the app's imported-PY-draft indication and complete the gaps.
This is a corporate ITR-6 input workflow. It should not be confused with the separate draft ITR JSON preparation features available for eligible non-corporate cases.
12. Use AOC-4 and MGT-7 for their supported purposes
In assureFinancials, supported ROC documents can help with company information, certain capital disclosures and comparison with reported financial figures.
For an existing client, use Import → ROC Docs. For a new company, use Create from ROC Docs.
- Select a supported text-readable AOC-4 PDF, MGT-7 PDF or the matching pair and choose Upload ROC Docs in an existing client.
- Confirm the company's CIN, identity and the relevant reporting dates.
- Open View extracted data, confirm any requested dates, and select the same-year filing or pair and the intended financial version or Master only destination.
- For Update Client Master, select the intended fields and review the existing and proposed values.
- For Update Share Capital / Shareholder Note, review the supported capital details and their destination in the active financial period.
- Review director, auditor and signatory information in the correct master or period-specific destination.
- Use Compare Financials Data when you want to compare reported AOC-4 figures with the selected financial version.
- For an update, choose Apply selected fields only after reviewing the proposed changes, then recheck the affected master, disclosure and signing screens.
For the new-client route, choose Read forms and preview, review the extracted master and reporting information, then Create client from reviewed master. The new client starts with blank TB and financial balances, which must be established through an appropriate financial-data route.
These PDFs have a 20 MB per-file limit in this workflow. The route expects supported, text-readable forms. Scanned documents and specialised variants such as MGT-7A or AOC-4 XBRL should not be assumed to work through the same parser.
AOC-4 comparison is a review exercise; it does not automatically replace the TB with the amounts in the form. Similarly, importing ROC information does not establish all accounting balances and supporting schedules.
For share capital, review share classes, counts, face value, holdings and movement details individually. Do not infer missing shareholder information merely because an aggregate capital amount is available. The capital-note update does not post a TB or audit-adjustment entry; reconcile the resulting disclosure with the accounts separately.
13. Use other supported import and copy routes where appropriate
SAP Business One. Open the SAP Business One import tab, prepare the supported five-level hierarchy TB workbook and upload the .xlsx or .xlsm file in the correct CY or PY card. Choose Validate Current Year & Preview or Validate Previous Year & Preview, inspect the hierarchy and posting-ledger selection, then Create Recovery Version & Import. Repeat for the other year when needed. Reconcile the hierarchy totals and financial statement grouping after import.
Another Client. Open the destination financial first, then choose Import → Another Client. Select the authorised source client, source financial period and source CY or PY. Confirm the destination CY or PY and choose Preview import. Check matching entity type and year dates, review the replacement effect and explicitly confirm replacement where required. Choose Import selected year, then Open financials to review the result. The source record and destination's other year remain separate from the selected-year replacement.
Import Template Excel. The + New Client menu includes a route for a previously filled app template. Use it for the appropriate template-based creation workflow. Download a fresh, period-specific template from inside a client when preparing new input.
Tax-data creation and connector routes. Import Other Files includes tax-data options. For a global JSON upload, inspect the preview and choose the intended Create Client/Period & Save Import or Attach File action. This saves the source information; it does not complete the financial statements.
The Income Tax JSON workspace may also offer Fetch from Income Tax Portal through the separate AssureOffice Income Tax Connector. Start the relevant connector, review the PAN/login, assessment year and file selection, then use Check Connector followed by Fetch Selected or Fetch All Three as appropriate. This connector is separate from the Tally connector. Fetching documents is followed by review and, where eligible, the explicit Use as PY Financials action. A fetched last-filed return still needs to match the intended previous-year slot.
14. Review the first draft before making presentation changes
After import, open Financials.
The corporate workbook navigation includes Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow, Notes 1-2, Equity & Liabilities, Assets, Income, Expenses, Ratios and Other Disclosures. The More menu provides Grouping Summary and Source & Reco.
Start by checking:
- The legal company name, reporting dates and comparative dates.
- Whether the correct financial version is active.
- The amount unit and decimals.
- Whether expected CY and PY balances are present.
- Whether the Balance Sheet totals reconcile.
- Whether revenue, expenses, tax and profit agree with the intended accounts.
- Whether notes contain the required detail and link to the appropriate statement amounts.
- Whether the Cash Flow statement is required for the assignment and, where used, reconciles correctly.
- Whether there are ungrouped ledgers, grouping warnings, source differences or incomplete workings.
A generated draft gives you a starting point for review. A balanced Balance Sheet alone does not establish that every classification, policy and disclosure is correct.
15. Correct amounts through the appropriate corporate editing route
In the corporate workflow, choose the edit according to the problem you are correcting.
For an incorrect TB input: open Trial Balance, choose Current Year TB or Previous Year TB, select the ledger and choose Edit TB Row. Review the opening, debit and credit fields and the Auto Closing result. Enter Remark / reason and review any balancing or contra option provided. Choose Save & Refresh and inspect Books Closing, AE Impact and Adjusted Closing, followed by the statement effect.
For a missing year-end accounting entry: open Audit Adjustments from Trial Balance, select the correct year and enter the date, entry type, narration and any workpaper reference. Select the debit and credit ledgers and enter the balanced lines. If a required ledger does not exist, use Add Ledger in TB first. Choose Save Entry, then check the register, AE Impact, Adjusted TB and financial statements. The available quick financial adjustment action is another route for a reviewed balanced entry.
For a supporting schedule: open the relevant note or Disclosures Working screen and edit the underlying working. For example, use the PPE working for asset movement details and the inventory working for stock-related information.
For a classification error: change the ledger grouping. Re-entering the same amount in another line can duplicate the balance rather than correct its classification.
Corporate users should follow these source and working edits instead of assuming that every displayed statement total accepts a direct amount override. Calculated totals, linked financial amounts and specialised workings have their own controlling inputs.
For example, if an audit fee accrual of ₹25,000 is missing, review a balanced entry debiting the appropriate expense and crediting the appropriate payable. Then check the expense note, the liability note, profit and the Balance Sheet. If that entry is later posted into the source books and included in a fresh TB, review the retained app adjustment so the expense is not counted twice.
16. Review grouping, line items and comparative consistency
Grouping determines where a ledger contributes to the statements and notes. In assureFinancials, review it through Trial Balance, the grouping controls, Grouping Summary or the relevant Edit Note interface.
- Find the ledger or note you want to review.
- Confirm whether the issue concerns the financial statement group, a displayed line item, a breakup or the amount itself.
- Open the available Grouping & Ledgers controls.
- Select the appropriate financial statement group.
- Review the CY/PY scope shown before saving.
- Save the grouping and reopen the affected statement and note.
- Review comparative consistency and any remaining unmapped items.
Some note-grouping actions synchronise matching ledger classifications across CY and PY. Read the scope shown instead of assuming every grouping change affects only the currently viewed year. Year-specific split, adjustment and reclassification actions should be reviewed separately.
Use line-item ordering and supported breakup controls where they help explain the balance. These presentation choices do not remove the need to use the appropriate financial statement category or provide applicable disclosures.
For example, an advance paid to a supplier needs to be assessed according to its substance. Simply leaving a debit balance in a trade-payables ledger may give an inappropriate presentation. Equally, a customer credit can require a different classification from a normal receivable. Review the underlying transaction before applying any suggested opposite-balance reclassification.
For an accounting classification split, use Split, review the destinations and make the allocated amounts equal the ledger's adjusted closing. For example, an appropriately supported ₹10 lakh loan balance might be split into ₹2 lakh current and ₹8 lakh non-current. A classification split does not create an audit entry or change the original total.
The Ledger Bifurcation tab serves a presentation purpose: it can show source ledgers beneath eligible note lines while retaining the existing total. Review Show All Available or Keep All Consolidated, then Save Bifurcation. Do not confuse this display detail with the amount allocation performed by Split.
Use Line Item Order to arrange eligible rows or subgroup blocks, then Save Line Order; Reset to Default restores the default order. Complete the note edit through Save & Refresh Note and inspect the saved result.
Additional TB and review tools
The TB workspace provides Add Ledger, Export TB, Import TB, Update Stock and Review & Reclassify Balances. Selected-row actions can include deletion and inclusion or exclusion from financials. Review the selected year and rows before applying any action; exclusions and deletion affect what contributes to the accounts.
For an Export TB → edit → Import TB correction, review the import preview carefully: confirmation replaces the complete selected-year TB and can remove absent rows. It is not an instruction to add only the few rows you edited. A Clear full TB action is also a deliberate removal operation, not a normal preparation step.
Additional review controls include Ledger Names & Mapping, Match CY/PY, Check Signs, Health, History and Apply My Groupings. Use them for the specific issue under review. Match CY/PY compares classifications without changing ledger amounts.
Where a mapping refresh is needed, Re-run Mapping & Conversion uses the data already imported. Safe Re-run preserves manual or approved mapping; Full Fresh Mapping can reset imported manual grouping. Review its preview and recovery version. This action does not fetch fresh Tally data.
17. Complete the notes and supporting workings
Use Disclosures Working and the relevant Edit Note action in Financials. The tabs displayed depend on the note. Available tabs can include Note Working, Grouping & Ledgers, Line Item Order, Ledger Bifurcation and Reconciliation. A specialised working may show a narrower set of controls.
For each applicable note, follow the same discipline: inspect the source amount, complete the working, save it, inspect the rendered note and reconcile it with the financial statements. If an expected note is missing, review Add / Manage Notes — access all financial workings and its applicability.
Enter amounts in corporate disclosure workings in Absolute INR, even when the reports display lakhs, thousands or another unit. A ₹2,50,000 working input remains ₹2,50,000; the reporting presentation may display 2.50 lakhs.
Company information and accounting policies
Review the company description, business activities, reporting basis and accounting policies. Replace generic or inherited text with wording appropriate to the company and period. Check that the policy matches the treatment actually used in the accounts.
Share capital, shareholders, reserves and EPS
Review the share classes, authorised and issued or paid-up amounts, share counts, face value, changes during the year and available shareholder information. Check the reconciliation of opening and closing capital and the applicable promoter or other ownership disclosures.
Review reserves and surplus movements separately. Check opening reserves, current-year profit and actual transfers or other movements. For EPS, verify the relevant profit and share-count inputs, including the appropriate weighting where required. A closing capital amount alone does not establish all these inputs.
Property, plant and equipment and intangible assets
Open Disclosures Working → Add / Manage Notes → PPE Schedule, or use the PPE note's Edit Note action to open its working. Choose FY (Current) or FY (Previous) and review each year separately. Use + Add Asset when an asset row is missing.
Check asset classes, opening gross block, additions, deletions, opening accumulated depreciation, the charge for the year and depreciation on deletions. Closing gross block, closing accumulated depreciation and net block calculate from these inputs. Review the WDV or SLM method, useful life and the corporate useful-life disclosure, including management confirmation and any deviation justification or technical-advice reference. Choose Save All for the selected year and confirm that saving succeeded. Saving the corporate PPE schedule does not itself post a depreciation journal; use a separately reviewed Audit Adjustment when the accounts require one and avoid duplicating depreciation already in the TB.
For current-year openings, review Opening values source → Auto (from previous year closing) or Manual / Import. If CY has no saved PPE rows and PY data exists, the app can display an unsaved carry-forward draft; complete CY movements and save it. After changing and saving PY information, reopen the PPE working so it reads the saved PY closing, review the CY opening source and any mismatches, then save CY separately. Reconcile the saved gross block, depreciation and net block with the accounts using the working's reconciliation and Source & Reco. Correct the working or grouping first; use Propose Audit Entry — review before saving only where the books require a correction.
Inventory, purchases and changes in inventory
Review opening stock, purchases or material costs, closing stock and the relevant inventory categories. Check the relationship between the Balance Sheet inventory amount and the P&L inventory movement or cost working.
A closing-stock amount appearing in both a source ledger and a separate working must be assessed for the intended treatment. Do not add the same stock effect twice. Use the inventory working and reconciliation to establish the correct result.
Trade receivables and trade payables
Review ledger classification, supporting balances, ageing and the required category breakdowns. Check disputed or other special categories where relevant, and complete MSME-related information for payables using the underlying supplier records.
A closing ledger balance alone does not establish invoice dates, due dates or supplier status. Complete missing details from supporting records and reconcile the ageing and other breakups to the relevant note totals.
Borrowings, loans, advances and provisions
Review Borrowings (LT + ST), Other LT Liabilities, Loans & Advances, Loans to KMPs (MCA) and relevant provisions as applicable. Check the nature of each amount, maturity and current or non-current classification. Complete available security, repayment, default, related-party and other relevant details. Reconcile the supporting movement or breakup to the financial statement balance.
Do not classify an item only from a short ledger name. A director's loan, a bank borrowing, an employee advance and a security deposit require different review even where their amounts are similar.
Investments, cash and bank balances
Complete Investments and Cash & Bank Breakup where relevant. Review the nature and classification of investments and the composition of cash and bank balances, including restrictions or other details required by the facts. Tie each working back to its TB grouping and financial note.
Income, expenditure and employee-related details
Review Revenue Split, other income, Purchase, Inventory & COGS Working, employee costs, finance costs and other expenses. Complete required supporting breakdowns, including PF/ESI and Gratuity Actuarial where relevant. Review the actuarial inputs and related accounting effect rather than treating an imported salary ledger as sufficient supporting detail.
Where an old Excel import contains a detailed revenue table, review its units and controlling CY/PY totals before relying on it. An unclear or multi-section source table may need explicit review rather than automatic summation.
Current tax and deferred tax
Review current tax expense, relevant tax balances and prior-period tax components separately. Complete the deferred-tax working using the underlying book and tax differences and the treatment applicable to the company.
Check the connection between tax expense in P&L, the tax-related Balance Sheet balances and the supporting note. Reconcile entries already recorded in the TB with any additional app adjustment.
Payment to Auditor and income-tax depreciation workings
Complete Payment to Auditor by reviewing the fee categories, source ledgers and proposed reclassification. Saving this working can create an automatically generated reclassification adjustment, so inspect the resulting entry and totals. Not every disclosure save is a narrative-only change.
The separate IT Depreciation screen is an in-app working. Its figures do not automatically flow into the financial statements Excel or PDF. Review how the tax working is used in the assignment and keep it distinct from book depreciation in PPE.
Related parties and transactions
Review the party list and the nature of each relationship. Enter the relevant transactions, closing balances and other applicable details, then inspect how they appear in the note. Identify related parties from the underlying relationships, not merely from whether their name contains “director” or “group”.
Ratios and Cash Flow
Review the ratios available in the app, the figures used in their numerator and denominator, the comparative values and the explanations required for significant changes. A calculated ratio still needs a meaningful review of its inputs.
Where a Cash Flow statement is applicable, check opening and closing cash, operating, investing and financing movements, and non-cash items. If a Cash Flow statement was imported from an old workbook, recheck it after changes to the TB or adjustments; do not assume every imported cash-flow detail has been rebuilt automatically.
Other disclosures and company-specific matters
Work through the other applicable disclosure screens and narrative notes, including Title Deeds (MCA), CWIP Ageing (MCA) and Intangible WIP Ageing where relevant. Depending on the company's facts, also review contingencies and commitments, charges, struck-off-company transactions, undisclosed income, fund utilisation, wilful-defaulter matters, lender returns, foreign currency items, guarantees and other company-specific disclosures.
A blank field is not evidence that a matter is inapplicable. Obtain the underlying information, record the appropriate treatment and inspect the final note. Complete any relevant disclosure that the selected source did not contain.
18. Use Preparation Progress as a review tracker
Open Preparation Progress to review the applicability and completion status of the listed items.
- Review the suggested applicability and its stated basis.
- Select Applicable, Not Applicable or Review required as appropriate.
- Enter a clear reason for each Not Applicable decision.
- Use the selection and bulk-action controls only for items that have genuinely been reviewed together.
- Choose Save Selected, Save All Changes or the individual row's Save action.
- Revisit items flagged because the underlying data has changed.
The progress indicator is a preparation tracker. Marking an item Not Applicable does not change amounts or hide its financial note. Complete the relevant note and presentation review separately.
Similarly, 100% on the tracker should be read together with the TB, reconciliation, disclosure and output review. It is not a substitute for them.
19. Refresh reviewed working data through Excel
If your team prefers to edit supported working data in Excel, use Import → Excel & PDF → Refresh from Updated Excel.
- Select the correct client and financial version.
- Choose Download Editable Working Excel.
- Edit only the permitted yellow source cells and supported input areas.
- Preserve the workbook's identity, metadata and structural identifiers.
- Save the edited workbook.
- Choose Upload Edited Working Excel.
- Review the proposed changes and the financial version information in the preview.
- Choose Create Draft Version & Apply Changes; the workflow creates a new draft for the changes.
- Open that draft and recheck the affected TB, workings, notes and statements.
Supported working areas include the relevant TB classification or grouping, audit entries, PPE and disclosure inputs and note remarks. Follow the permissions provided in the workbook rather than assuming every cell is an input.
Final Balance Sheet, P&L or Cash Flow totals and linked formula cells are not the source inputs for this refresh. Editing them does not constitute a supported instruction to change the app's underlying accounts.
The separate Advanced / Legacy Full Replace Import can replace CY TB, PY TB and CY audit entries. Use it only when its full replacement effect is intended and reviewed. Preserve a whole-client backup first.
20. Re-import updated data carefully
Re-importing is common when the client sends a revised TB or additional entries are posted in Tally.
- Confirm what changed in the source books.
- Download a client backup before a material replacement.
- Confirm the company, active period, year and version.
- Review which existing groupings, manual ledgers and audit adjustments will be retained. For Tally, set these choices before fetching or processing because they affect the preview.
- Open the appropriate source route and fetch or process the revised data.
- Review the import preview, retained-data choices and the list of affected records.
- Review what happens to imported ledgers that are absent from the new source.
- Choose a new financial version where the route offers it and you need to preserve the earlier working version.
- Apply the reviewed import.
- Check retained adjustments for duplication with entries now present in the source books.
- Reconcile retained disclosure workings and imported source tables with the new balances.
- Review the statements and download fresh outputs after the changes are complete.
The Import history records import events and their source. Treat it as a log, not as a replacement for a restorable client backup.
If a preview becomes stale because someone changes the financial data, regenerate the preview against the current state before committing. This keeps the review tied to the data being changed.
21. Reconcile the financials before finalisation
Use the statement review indicators, relevant note Reconciliation tabs, More → Grouping Summary and More → Source & Reco.
Check the accounting from the source through to the output:
- Source to imported TB: verify company, year, ledger coverage, signs, units and totals.
- Imported TB to adjusted TB: identify direct TB changes and balanced audit adjustments.
- Adjusted TB to financial groups: review ungrouped ledgers, unusual balances and classification.
- Groups to supporting notes: reconcile workings, detailed breakups and imported allocations.
- Notes to statement amounts: confirm that the Balance Sheet and P&L use the intended totals.
- CY and PY consistency: review comparative grouping, opening balances and prior-year changes.
- Profit and reserves: check the relationship between the period's result and the relevant reserve movement.
- PPE, inventory and tax: review these linked workings after adjustments or re-imports.
- Cash Flow: where applicable, reconcile its cash movement and opening or closing cash to the accounts.
- Presentation differences: distinguish a genuine unexplained difference from the effect of the chosen display unit and rounding.
The Source & Reco register can distinguish As per TB Grouping from As per Disclosure Working, and show statuses such as Matched, Difference, Pending or Using TB Grouping. Use the available Open Working, Review TB Grouping, Split, Review or Propose AE action according to the actual cause. A TB-based draft can be generated while a working is incomplete; that does not establish disclosure completeness.
If a source-review screen offers a proposed adjustment, inspect the reason and its balanced ledger effect before approval. A proposal is a review item until it is approved and applied through the provided workflow.
Resolve the cause of a difference. A balancing figure entered simply to make two totals match can conceal a missing ledger, duplicate adjustment or incorrect source unit.
22. Complete Signing & Other details
Open Signing & Other for the active financial period.
- Select the audit firm or default partner from the available Auditor Firms master.
- Confirm the signing partner name and membership number for this financial period.
- Review the firm details and FRN through the appropriate master where needed.
- Enter the period's UDIN where applicable and choose whether to display it in the statements.
- Enter the signing date and place.
- Add the directors or other applicable signatories, including name, DIN or relevant identifier, designation and place.
- Use the Directors Master selection or active-director option where appropriate, then review the resulting signatory list.
- Enter appointed CS, CFO or CEO information where applicable, including their own signing places and optional individual dates.
- Review the registered and corporate addresses, holding-company details and principal activities where applicable.
- Choose Save Details and check the rendered signing blocks.
The screen can also provide Copy from Previous Period. Review the copied signatories, dates and places for the current assignment. UDIN is not copied; enter the current period's correct UDIN where required.
Saving signing details populates the financial presentation. It should not be confused with applying a digital signature or completing an external filing.
23. Download and inspect the final outputs
After completing the accounting, disclosure and signing review, open Financials → Download.
Download Full PDF. Generate the full printable financial statements pack. Open the downloaded PDF and check the company heading, dates, units, statement order, notes, comparative columns, page breaks, wide schedules and signing blocks before printing or sending it.
Excel — With TB & Workings. Download the corporate workbook containing the financial statements and the included TB and workings. Review the relevant sheets, totals, note references and presentation. Use the controlled Editable Working Excel workflow when you want supported changes to return to the app.
Word — Editable Layout. Download the editable corporate presentation where you need a Word file. Changes made inside this downloaded document remain in that file. Make underlying accounting corrections in assureFinancials if you want its records and other exports to reflect the same change. Recheck layout after substantial Word edits.
The period's amount-unit and decimal controls apply to financial presentation. Check the available Absolute INR, Hundreds, Thousands, Lakhs, Millions or Crores setting and with/without-decimals choice. Review the Show registered address in financial statement headers option when editing the financial's presentation settings.
For each format, confirm that you downloaded the intended version after the last saved change. A previously downloaded PDF or workbook is a separate file and does not update when the app's financial data changes.
Review access messages if an export is marked as a trial or demo output. Obtain the appropriate client-year access where required for the intended final export.
24. Preserve completed financials and manage revisions
Return to the company's Financials List when the version is ready to be preserved.
- Open the intended financial and complete the final review.
- Download the final outputs and a whole-client backup.
- Return to the Financials List.
- Choose Sign & Close for the correct financial version.
- Read and confirm the closing action.
- Verify that the financial is shown as Signed & Closed and is available for read-only viewing.
- Download another whole-client backup if you want the backup to preserve this completed closed state.
Sign & Close is the app's locking and preservation action. It does not itself perform external signing or statutory filing.
For later changes, choose Create Revised on the closed financial. This creates an independent editable revision while retaining the locked original. Review the new revision's identity, make the changes, repeat the relevant reconciliation and output checks, and preserve the revised version when approved.
Use clear version names so that a provisional bank set, an internal working set and the final signed accounts are distinguishable.
Use Financial Version History for working checkpoints
Financial Version History is separate from the named Main, Bank or Revised financial assignments. Open Trial Balance → History / Restore or the sidebar History, enter a useful description and choose Save Current Version when you need a supported recovery checkpoint. Use View to inspect a saved snapshot. In an open financial, review the scope of Restore on an older snapshot before replacing the current state; the latest snapshot does not have that restore action.
This history retains a limited number of snapshots rather than an unlimited archive: the current workflow keeps up to five for an open financial and three for a closed financial. Unchanged data does not create an additional version, and older versions can be discarded as new ones are saved. The protected final snapshot has its own deletion protection.
Snapshots cover the supported financial source data, including TB, grouping, adjustments and relevant disclosures or small schedules. They exclude items such as GL, FAR, generated files and caches. Keep a whole-client backup when those broader records or a portable restore are needed. Closed financials restrict snapshot saves and restoration; use Create Revised for subsequent preparation.
25. Add the next financial year or modify an existing period
For a new financial year, open the company and choose + New financial.
- Enter the new current and comparative dates.
- Select the financial type, version name and presentation unit.
- Where appropriate, select Copy PY from a saved financial and choose the approved source version whose dates match the comparative period.
- Create and open the new financial.
- Confirm the copied PY figures and supported workings, or establish PY through an appropriate import route.
- Import the new current-year data.
- Review opening balances, new ledgers, grouping and year-specific disclosures.
- Update signing details and repeat the complete review process.
For an existing open financial, use its Edit action to review the period, type, version, comparative and unit settings. Changing a label or date is not a substitute for migrating or re-importing the correct year's data. If the accounts belong to a genuinely different reporting period, create the appropriate financial and populate it deliberately.
26. Update the client master without confusing it with period data
Open the client and choose Edit master when the company's permanent information needs correction or updating.
Review the legal name, CIN, PAN, registered office address, incorporation details, business description and other relevant fields. Save the change and inspect the active financial statement header and company information note.
Review the corporate Directors / KMP Master as well: name, DIN, PAN, designation and appointment or resignation dates. Use + Add for another master row where needed. This is the company's roster; select the appropriate period signatories separately in Signing & Other.
Use period-specific screens for the financial year's signing details, reporting dates, units and workings. Updating the permanent client master does not establish those period-specific facts automatically. If a prefill comparison offers Protect selected fields from Prefill updates, use it for reviewed master fields that should not be selected for overwrite.
Where ROC document review proposes a master update, compare the proposed value with the current record and apply only the fields intended for update. Historical financials and current master information need to be reviewed in their proper context.
27. Back up, restore and delete client data
Download a whole-client backup
Use the client's backup export action to download the compact core backup ZIP. Save it with a clear company, date and purpose reference, such as a pre-import backup or a finalisation backup.
The client backup is intended for restoring the supported core client and financial data. It is different from a PDF, a final Excel workbook and an import-history log. Rebuildable caches and separate version-history records are not part of the compact core backup.
Import a client from backup
- Open Clients → + New Client → Import Other Files → Import Client Backup File.
- Select the supported client backup ZIP or compatible legacy client JSON and choose Continue →.
- Review Backup Summary, including company identity, export date, financial periods, TB rows, adjustments, disclosures, linked auditor/director information and integrity findings.
- If the system detects an existing-client conflict, review the available create or replace choices carefully.
- Before any intended replacement, preserve a fresh backup of the destination client.
- Choose Import after reviewing the New client or Replace existing client decision.
- Open the restored client and review its financials list, active version, TB, workings and statements.
- Regenerate the outputs needed for the restored assignment.
Creating a new record from a backup can retain the existing client separately, with an imported-name suffix where appropriate. Replacement removes the matching destination client and substitutes the backup's data. A conflicting File No. may still need resolution before creating a separate imported client.
Delete an individual financial
Use the Delete action for the specific open financial in the Financials List. Review the company, year, financial type and version. Choose Download full financial backup JSON, wait for the required download confirmation, type DELETE and confirm only the intended financial deletion. The company master and other financial assignments remain separate.
Keep a whole-client backup as well when you need the documented client restore route. The individual-financial safety download is a different file format; do not assume that it can be uploaded through the whole-client backup importer.
Delete the entire client
Open the client deletion action, read the scope, download the mandatory compact core backup ZIP, wait for the app to recognise that download, type DELETE and confirm only if the entire client and its related financial records are intended to be removed.
Deletion is not an archival action. Use preserved financial versions and retained backups when the objective is to keep a completed engagement available for future reference.
28. A connected example: from Tally to final company financials
Assume ABC Private Limited is preparing its Non-Ind AS financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2026. Its current books are in Tally, and its approved previous-year accounts are already available in assureFinancials.
- Open ABC Private Limited and review its client master.
- Create the FY 2025–26 Main financial with the correct comparative dates.
- Select the approved FY 2024–25 saved financial for the optional PY copy.
- Open Import → Tally → Connect Tally Directly and test the connector.
- Fetch the correct current-year Tally data. If the approved PY has already been copied, do not replace it casually with an unadjusted PY book extract.
- Review the imported ledgers, groupings, stock inputs and warnings, then import to Trial Balance.
- Review a supplier advance found under a payable group and correct its classification based on the supporting facts.
- Identify the missing ₹25,000 audit fee accrual and record a balanced adjustment after confirming it is absent from the books.
- Complete PPE, inventory, receivable and payable ageing, share capital, tax, related-party and other applicable workings.
- Review the effect of the adjustment on profit, liabilities and reserves, and recheck Cash Flow where applicable.
- Complete Preparation Progress with supported applicability decisions.
- Add the current period's signing details and review the final financial statements.
- Download the PDF and Excel, inspect both, and save a whole-client backup.
- Use Sign & Close when the financial version has been approved for preservation.
The process combines imported data with reviewed classification, accounting adjustments and supporting disclosure work. assureFinancials at https://assureoffice.in provides the connected workspace in which those steps can be completed and checked.
29. Final review checklist before sharing the accounts
- Correct company, entity type and reporting framework.
- Correct active financial period and version.
- Correct CY and PY dates and comparative source.
- Correct source and presentation units.
- Complete ledger coverage and reviewed import warnings.
- No unresolved material grouping errors.
- Customer credits, supplier debits and other unusual balances reviewed.
- Direct TB edits and audit adjustments supported and reconciled.
- No duplicated adjustments after a source-book update or re-import.
- Opening balances checked against the intended previous-year closing.
- PPE, depreciation, inventory, capital, reserves and tax workings reviewed.
- Ageing, MSME, related-party and other applicable details completed.
- Accounting policies consistent with the actual accounts.
- Ratios and required explanations reviewed.
- Cash Flow checked where applicable, including after later changes.
- Notes reconciled to the appropriate statement amounts.
- Preparation Progress decisions reviewed and saved.
- Company information and signing details current and correct.
- PDF and Excel regenerated after the final changes and inspected.
- Appropriate version preserved and a whole-client backup retained.
30. Common problems and the checks that usually resolve them
The wrong year's amounts appear. Check the active financial version, the source-year selection, CY/PY column mapping and the actual dates inside the uploaded file. Correct the import context before trying again.
The Tally connector does not respond. Check that the connector is running, Tally is open, the correct company is loaded and the configured port and connectivity settings match. Use Test Connector + Tally before repeating the fetch.
A TB is imported but grouping is incomplete. Open the unmapped or grouping review, classify the remaining ledgers and recheck the related statements and notes.
An amount appears much larger or smaller than expected. Check the source workbook's unit, the import interpretation and the financial's display unit. Review sign conventions and duplicated data as well.
A PPE, inventory or tax note differs from the TB. Open its underlying working and reconciliation. Check whether a retained or imported schedule still contains old figures, or whether the same accounting effect has been included twice.
A working change did not update an accounting balance. Review whether the action saved only supporting information or also required a separately reviewed adjustment entry. Use the explicit posting action where provided and appropriate.
Editing the final Excel did not update assureFinancials. Use Download Editable Working Excel and the supported refresh workflow. Final-output edits do not automatically write back to the app.
Use as PY Financials is unavailable for a tax file. Check the return form, filed-return status, company identity, assessment year, comparative period and any existing-PY-data restriction.
A ROC PDF does not produce useful information. Check that it is a supported text-readable form rather than a scan or unsupported variant, and that it belongs to the selected company and period.
A note remains visible after marking it Not Applicable. Preparation Progress changes the tracker only. Review the note's actual content and presentation controls separately.
A closed financial cannot be edited. Use Create Revised to prepare the changes in an independent revision.
The downloaded PDF still shows an earlier amount. Save the intended change, verify the active version in the app, generate a new PDF and open that newly downloaded file.
31. Frequently asked questions
1. What does assureFinancials do for a company financial statements assignment?
It provides a connected workspace for importing supported financial data, reviewing TB grouping, recording adjustments, completing workings and disclosures, reviewing financial statements and downloading the supported outputs.
2. Where can I access assureFinancials?
You can access assureFinancials through assureOffice at https://assureoffice.in. Open the financial builder within your account and select the relevant client and financial year.
3. Is this guide applicable to every company reporting framework?
This guide describes the corporate Non-Ind AS / Schedule III Division I workflow. Confirm the company's applicable framework before using a particular financial preparation format.
4. Must I have Tally to use assureFinancials?
No. Supported alternatives include Excel TB, the app's Master Template, existing corporate financial statements workbooks and other specific import or copy routes.
5. Can I import a TB that already contains grouping?
Yes. Review how its grouping maps to the app's financial statement groups and correct any unsuitable or unresolved classifications before finalisation.
6. Can I import a TB without grouping?
Yes. Use the corporate Trial Balance import route, review the proposed classification and complete unresolved grouping through the available review controls.
7. Can I import both years from one workbook?
The flexible TB route supports CY, PY and Both. Identify the appropriate worksheets and columns for each year, or use a separate PY file where provided.
8. Is a new client the same thing as a new financial year?
No. The client stores the company identity. Its Financials List can contain separate reporting periods and versions, each with its own financial data and settings.
9. Should I select first-year financials because I am using the app for the first time?
No. Answer according to whether the entity has previous-year financial statements. First-time use of assureFinancials does not make an existing company a first-year entity.
10. Can I bring the previous year's approved figures into a new financial?
Yes. New financial provides an optional saved-financial PY copy. Select the correct approved version and confirm that its current-year dates match the new comparative dates.
11. Will a new financial automatically contain all current-year balances?
No. Establish the current-year data through the appropriate import or entry workflow and review it. Copying PY does not supply the new year's transactions.
12. What is the difference between Tally connector import and Tally file import?
The connector fetches supported information from the accessible Tally setup. File import works from the required exported accounting masters and ledger-wise TB files.
13. Can I upload only a collapsed Tally group summary?
Use the ledger-wise TB required by the file workflow. A collapsed summary does not provide the ledger-level information needed for proper mapping and review.
14. Does Tally import complete every disclosure automatically?
No. Review what was actually imported and complete information such as ageing, ownership, related parties, policies, contractual details and other applicable disclosures from supporting records.
15. Can I import old financial statements in Excel?
Yes, through Excel Financials. Inspect the recovered company details, statements, notes, available TB and workings, then review reconciliation and any missing information.
16. Can an old summary Balance Sheet recreate a full ledger TB?
Only the information actually available in the source can be recovered reliably. Obtain underlying books or a TB when ledger detail is needed but absent from the financial statements file.
17. Can I upload any PDF through the Excel & PDF tab?
Follow the accepted file type and purpose of the specific upload control. Supported ROC PDFs have their own route; arbitrary PDFs are not interchangeable with structured Excel input.
18. Can filed ITR-6 be used for company financials?
An eligible filed ITR-6 for the immediately preceding year can be reviewed and applied through Use as PY Financials. Complete details that were not available in the return.
19. Does uploading a tax JSON automatically replace the financial statements?
No. Storage and review of a tax document are separate from applying eligible information as PY financials. Review the explicit action and its conditions.
20. Do AOC-4 and MGT-7 provide a complete accounting import?
Their supported roles include reviewed company information, certain capital details and financial comparison. Establish the accounting balances through the appropriate financial-data route.
21. Can I edit corporate financial amounts after import?
Yes. Use the relevant TB input, balanced accounting adjustment or supporting working. The correct route depends on whether you are correcting data, accounting treatment or a disclosure calculation.
22. Can I type over any displayed total?
Corporate totals and linked amounts use their controlling inputs. Correct the source row, adjustment or working so the result is reflected consistently in the accounts and exports.
23. Can I change ledger grouping after import?
Yes. Review the grouping controls in TB or Edit Note, check the CY/PY scope, save the classification and verify the affected statements and notes.
24. Does a grouping change affect both years?
Some note-grouping actions synchronise matching ledgers across CY and PY. Review the action's scope and the comparative result rather than assuming a change is limited to one year.
25. Can I add line-item detail to a note?
Use the relevant supported breakup, line-item or ledger-bifurcation controls. Keep the detail reconciled to the controlling balance and review its classification and presentation.
26. How should I correct a missing year-end expense?
Review a balanced adjustment using the appropriate expense and liability or other contra ledger. Check the Adjusted TB, P&L, related note and Balance Sheet after saving.
27. Does saving a PPE working always post depreciation into the books?
No. In the corporate workflow, Save All saves the selected year's PPE schedule. Review any required depreciation entry separately through Audit Adjustments or the working's reviewed Propose Audit Entry action, and avoid duplicating depreciation already in the TB.
28. How do I update CY openings after a PY adjustment?
Review Sync CY Opening in the template workflow. Confirm the revised PY closing is the intended basis, run the sync and recheck CY balances and statements.
29. Can I re-import an updated TB without reviewing existing adjustments?
Review them before and after re-import. A previously recorded app adjustment may already be included in the updated source books and can otherwise be duplicated.
30. Can I edit working data in Excel and bring it back?
Yes, through Download Editable Working Excel and Upload Edited Working Excel. Use the permitted source cells, preserve the structure and review the new draft created by the refresh.
31. Is the final Excel export the same as the editable working Excel?
They serve different workflows. Use the designated editable working file for supported changes to be refreshed into the app, and the final export for its intended reporting and review purpose.
32. Does Preparation Progress determine which notes are printed?
No. Its applicability decisions control preparation tracking. Review the actual disclosure content and presentation separately.
33. Is a balanced Balance Sheet enough to finalise the accounts?
No. Also review classification, comparative figures, adjustments, supporting workings, policies, disclosures, signing details and the downloaded output.
34. Can I download a printable PDF and an Excel workbook?
Yes. The corporate Download menu includes Full PDF and Excel with TB and workings. Inspect the newly downloaded files after the final saved changes.
35. Can I download an editable Word version?
The corporate workflow provides Word — Editable Layout. Edits made in the downloaded file stay there; update assureFinancials separately when the underlying financial records need correction.
36. Are signing details maintained separately for each financial period?
Yes. Review the active period's auditor and signatory details in Signing & Other, even when using information copied from an earlier period.
37. Does Sign & Close digitally sign or file the accounts?
No. It locks and preserves the app's financial version. External signing, approval and filing actions remain separate activities.
38. How do I change a Signed & Closed financial?
Use Create Revised. Review and complete the independent revision while retaining the original closed financial for reference.
39. Can I restore a client from a backup ZIP?
Yes. Use Clients → + New Client → Import Other Files → Import Client Backup File, review the preview and any replacement effect, then verify the restored financial records.
40. Does an import-history entry allow me to restore the old data?
An import-history entry records the event. Retain the appropriate backup and preserved financial versions when you need recovery or an earlier state.
41. Can I delete one financial without deleting the whole company?
Use the specific financial's available Delete action and complete its backup and confirmation process. Keep a whole-client backup as well if you need the documented client restore route.
42. Does this corporate guide include non-corporate ITR JSON generation?
No. The corporate guide includes eligible ITR-6 use as a PY source. Draft ITR JSON preparation for eligible non-corporate entities is a separate workflow with its own review requirements.
43. What should I do when a source file leaves a disclosure incomplete?
Obtain the missing information from the company's underlying records, complete the relevant working or narrative and reconcile the result. Record a supported inapplicability decision only when the facts justify it.
44. What is the best habit for working safely across several clients and versions?
Check the company, financial period and active version before every import, material edit, export or deletion. Keep clear version names and retain a whole-client backup before major changes.
Prepare, review and preserve the complete financial assignment
assureFinancials connects the input, grouping, working, disclosure and output stages of company financial preparation. The strongest result comes from using the right source for each purpose, reviewing the accounting effect of changes and keeping the final statements connected to their supporting information.
Start with the available TB, Tally data or existing financial statements, complete the relevant corporate review steps and produce the required financial statements outputs through assureFinancials at https://assureoffice.in.
