Check the destination period first
CY means the current financial period being prepared; PY means its comparative period. Verify the client, financial version and start/end dates before saving either year. A file name is not sufficient evidence of its period.
- Open the intended client and financial period.
- Choose the import source and CY, PY or Both where that workflow offers the choice.
- For separate-year Tally companies, select the appropriate company and dates for each year. For separate Excel files, upload them into the corresponding CY/PY fields.
- Review the proposed destination and changes before confirming the import.
Refresh and retain reviewed work
Use Excel Refresh below Preparation Progress for a financials workbook refresh, or the relevant Import Centre route for refreshed source data. Read the retention/replacement options displayed for that import; their scope varies by workflow.
Review points
- Take a client backup before a replacement or substantial refresh.
- Compare balances and supporting workings after the import. Do not assume every manual adjustment is preserved by every refresh mode.
- Match CY/PY compares grouping. Preview the proposed changes and approve the intended rows; it does not copy amounts or resolve period differences automatically.
